Official Name Change

In May 2016,  I made a brave and bold move to change my name from Katarzyna Anna Heigelmann nickname Kasia (Katarinna, Katrinanna), to Katrine Blanche Hegillman.
It was study with Kabalarian Philosophy Association in Vancouver that influenced my choice.
Actually it is not entirely true.
My friend and colleague Suuzzi Hazen has inspired me. She has inspired me with her conviction to search for truth, healing, acupuncture and integrity. I learned from her about her experience going through the name change. As I received my first reading in 2012/2013 it rung truth so much but I was scared to adopt a new name.
I was worried first of all "what will other say" will they think I am little too much out of the box?

What about my family? What about my patients and clients. Lots of questions were "flying" in my consciousness. I also shared my numerology studies with my husband. He red the studies, got a professional reading with the Kabalarians and than... he changed his name withing months on the spot. I was dumbfounded as I considered my husband quite conservative and traditional.
He, on the other hand, does not worry what other think of him. He than inspired me even more. In the interim I was using in the interim different nicknames such as Katarinna, Katrianna as suggested as by the Kabalarians because I was so attached to keeping my last name. It was not working though... at all.

I will spare explaning of the meaning in numbers and meaning of influence of the name of the persons mind and development. I will just mention that it provided me with an insight to my own past and present and taught me to deepen compassion, respect to myself and others.
Since the change I had had some increased intuitive insights as well as very profound dreams.

Historically I would like to share few links here to provide food for thought for those who like to explore this ancient science:

The Last Chapter

Chapter 81 True words are not eloquent eloquent words aren't true. Wise men don't need to prove their point; men who need to prove their point aren't wise. The Master has no possessions. The more he does for others, the happier he is. The more he gives to others, the wealthier he is. The Tao nourishes by not forcing. By not dominating, the master leads. Tao Te Ching trans. Quick note on very important book.

Manfred Porkert in his "The Theoretical Foundations of Chinese Medicine. System of Correspondences."explains in his very first paragraph some very precious point about Chinese Medicine:
"Chinese Medicine, like other Chinese sciences, defines data on basis of the inductive mode of cognition."Inductive" corresponds to a logical link between two effective positions existing at the same time in different places in space. (Conversely, causality is the logical link between two effective positions given at different times at the same place in space.)
In other words, effects based on positions that are separate in space yet simultaneous in time are mutually inductive and thus called inductive and thus called inductive effects."

TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) is "inductive and synthetic as opposed to casual and analytic mode of cognition (...)" .  How than could we use analytic thinking to explain TCM.
We cannot, it is absurd from the start, yet modern medicine and scientist try over and over again to prove and explain the Classical Oriental Medicine to make everybody happy and comfortable.  Unfortunately this is a blind path until we realize that it is OK to use different model to explain something.

I am grateful for this book form Dr Manfred Porkert as well as for Dr Warren Fisher who introduced it at a TCM Seminar in 2011. This book description of Qi (as relationship) yin and yang as qualifiers etc, have grounded Oriental Medicine for us "illiterate" doctors of this medicine from the West, us who understand some but do not read fluently Chinese or other language of the Orient.

 Happy reading!

My Mothers Garden

It has been almost a year since I wanted to write about my Mother's Garden. It is a magic place that always is in my heart no matter were the world wind blows my curiosity. The Garden is full of local and foreign plants, wild but contained, surprisingly interesting without trying too hard to create an elaborate landscape - is such my Mom's garden. The signature plant for Polish country side - the malves in front of the white wall, front windows of the house driveway. I love them as they always remind me home.
The house I grew up in is also a B&B run my my Mother alone now. It has been over 20 years we have been opened.

The front of the house is on a lovely lake called Swiecajty, the lake that is still quite clean with plenty of fish. Unfortunately "new money" brought to the village Kal jets and water scooters which guarantees the end of bliss and the pure water.

The back of the property has grill area as well as valley ball field, bushes with aronia berries known in Siberia, rich in vitamins and antioxidants, small vegetable garden, huge walnut trees and few apple trees. My mother with her magic green thumb managed to grow few ginkgo trees close to my Father memory stone. There is some very mysterious other treas that I do not know but I think also come from the orient. There is some strange fascination of the orient that goes through generations on my father side. My grandfather could read and write something about two thousand Chinese Characters without ever going to China. My father studied for himself the green tea preparation in Moscow and drank it for over 20 years almost every morning... And me...you probably know, become a TCMer. Magic synchronicity at the same time I think. I would love to write Kanji, but for now I think Arabic would be easier!

Well oasis of plants, waters, bliss that might come to end one day. I am not ready to move back there, I hope I will one day but not ready not willing yet. My mom is getting overwhelmed with the work the property demands. I say rent it let someone run it for you, she looks at me helpless: why not you guys? Very difficult.

The village is growing wild with new developments and more and more inventive and interesting venues to attract the tourists. As the summers are very warm and the lake is perfect for swimming, fishing and sailing the peninsula Kal is buzzing like a beehive. In the summer you can smell camp fire, hear people singing songs and playing guitar, mostly tipsy on good or not beer and lazy a bit from eating polish sausage and fresh fish. Many aromas dance in the night sky absolutely brilliant from the stars shining so brightly in the country. The big dipper is just over the roof, hanging like is going to touch the chimney. Dogs bark is breaking the silence every now and that in the deep night.  The truth is it is mine too. Rich history of the area is overwhelming in stories of war, victories, and falls, architecture of mix origin, nostalgia and beauty.

Simple...but not easy. Meridian Therapy Miracles

Originally I wanted to name this post "heart patient", this was an interesting case because without meridian therapy I would not be able to help this patient.
Male 45 years old suffering severe food allergies, and severe palpitations with sharp abdominal pain after eating anything else besides rice and chicken broth.
He came to see me after exhausting run for few year of seeing many different specialists of allopathic medicine. He was under tremendous pressure at work too. Sometimes feeling pressure on Ren 14.
His pulse was weak rapid, it was difficult to determine because so much was going on...the pulse was thready also irregular, it seamed superficial floating, superficial on distal left as well and middle left position with deep weak upon the pressure on middle right. Because the palpitations were exhausting and frightening the patient I decided to work on Liv 1 spleen 1 and San jiao 1 Pc 9, to see if the feeling below the heart and the pals stop(I also used the water and metal point on fire - small intestine, did not do much. Well yang meridian well more for disorders along the channel than internal, I thought).
It did decreased, I used SJ 2 and it cleared completely. Because additional complained was noise in Right ear from a traumatic shock long time in the past I used SJ 3 (maybe I dispersed it too much), which immediately started the palpitations again. Back to SJ 2 and PC9 they stopped. All very gentle and slow. After a while I took a pulse again, it felt calmer and more "even". The following sessions the patient felt better and better and the pulse started to remind more Spleen Deficiency Liver Excess Blood Stag pattern. Although still not very clear book example. I slowly treated SP3 PC7 LIV8 GB 41 but at the same time some wood points on yin meridian as I could not believe that such an improvement was possible and I did not wanted to jinx it... I follower that lead to have further improvement in patients condition. Additional things I did during treatment was chinetskyu on front mu R14, 12, 10, 9, 4 St25. Toonetskyu on hard areas on lower abdomen, and back Bl 20, 22, 23. Chinetskyu upper back B14, 15, 17, 18. Few more cones on the right as the right shoulder was quite tight. Well weather is good or not, 2 months later, my patient indulges in eating everything and is palpitations free. He told me he even had pizza! The most important, the patient got better!! Whatever I was able to do i was grateful to Meridian Therapy and Ikeda Sensei. I did not do exactly what in the book but I kept checking the pulse with almost every needle. Such is path of someone who has no Master by their side 24/7 to ask questions on everyday basis. Many of us are lonely in the clinic and we need each other for support. PS I did try KD 7 each time the pulse was not changing but it made sense to use it pathology wise so I did for few sessions. I also received a thank you note from my patients doctor and request to explain what I did. here is what I wrote:

(...) as to TCM pathology, it is maybe bit too difficult to put it in a short e-mail but here it is:
I found the Small intestine pulse to show signs of heat, that heat is going to the heart (small intestine and heart have yin/yang relationship and connection via meridian something very specific to TCM),(...) I was able to bring some of that heat down, together with points on the Spleen.
Why Spleen? Spleen is the earth element, it is the queen of digestion together with Stomach and Intestine it governs Digestion, absorption and assimilation (again Western Medical spleen does not much other than recycles blood cells, but think of it as a concept and energetic center than a physical one).... The heat in Small Intestine came form deficiency (very long period of stress years ago), so the heat needs to be controlled but not put down.
The Earth Spleen Element-digestion, is generated by Fire-Element (Mother and Child relationship - 5 Elements Theory) in order to have function of digestion working in order I needed to regulate Spleen and Heart/ Pericardium/ Liver relationship using the Spleen and Small Intestine Meridian {as well as Liver} in (on those meridians Fire Wood and Earth Points, but as I said I started with Water on Small Intestine to bring the "inflammation down" so to speak). Once that communication was reestablished and those organs got a bit more energy via acupuncture and moxibustion the whole system started to function a bit better.

It sounds a bit poetic and maybe crazy to a Western (Modern) Medicine but I know you will get some sense out of it.
It is actually a very specific medicine it just sounds "airy fairy" :)

I did not get any answer back I think the doctor is still reading that e-mail wondering what has happened.

Meridian Therapy Part One

Please participate in this one with me:
...we observe all the signs already from the moment patient walks into the treatment room.
The complexion, the voice, the smell the expression everything starts to form the diagnosis. As the patients lays on the table we check the pulse standing next to the table and examine both wrists pulse "listening" to all the glands and organs energetic/physiological characteristics reflected by the pulse. Beware that is takes years of practice to really understand everything you will feel under your fingertips. Shudo Sensei said it took him about 10 years(:. Than we will have patients tell us all the details of why they actually came to see us. Often we are last resort because Western (Modern) medicine had no solution. This is your chance! Because Oriental Medicine understand human body much deeper than analytical dissecting medicine EVER will! Why? Because you can only understand minute things when you understand the big picture get IT? That is why quantum physicists have no problem understanding existence of Qi/Ki and flow of Energy/Light in the body. Because they have seen "Quantum" and now thy are looking for the opposite (LOL) Here is the good news: in Meridian therapy we have something as hara diagnosis that can greatly help in making proper diagnosis. The fantastic charts of abdominal pathology are presented in Ikeda Sensei "Japanese Meridian Therapy". As pressing the key points for for finding pattern of pathology. It seams simple but searching fingers must be trained by repeated exercise and practice with time just as pulse. Do not be ashamed of keep trying. That is when you keep practicing one day you will "get" something right from the pulse, some other day you will "get" something from the abdomen, other times you will "know" when the pale patient comes is that the blood needs to be tonified etc. It becomes easier and easier when you are PRESENT. It gets less accurate with Practitioners with stress, emotions and tiredness. When you get how precise and accurate Oriental Medicine can be you will have a natural desire and passion and respect for this treasure called Oriental Medicine.

Water and Baby

Have you ever held a new born baby in your arms? It is more than nine months ago now, when I we were out from the hospital with our new born baby I realized how precious life is, how delicate and gentle it is.
We stopped for avocado juice as a cafe near by Polyclinic du Sud. The mopeds, cars and people were moving recklessly making sounds that felt suddenly amplified to an enormous noise. Yes, one might say since I just gave birth few days prior I was kidney deficiency and my hearing was too sensitive. It is true but there was something more to it.
It was as we forgot, I admit I did not know to what extend even as an acupuncturist, how to be gentle. The world is/become obligated to a need of shouting, running, violently driving, first passing and imposing right of way. In this world I was holding in my arms something precious that needed care and protection. How could it survive in this world without it???

As I was arranging my books in my treatment room, I came across Dr. Masaru Emoto messages in the Water. It shows images of Water exposed to different electromagnetic influences or even a thought. It made me remember that feeling of holding my new born baby. As we are born we are mainly made of water...The love thoughts make the most beautiful shapes... what about the thoughts of people walking by and noise of a busy street? How do the water crystals in our body arrange than? How delicate is the world in its essence.

Therefore when using the tonification technique of touch needling I want to remember how delicate life is and how quickly it responds to touch, thought, energy. Any thoughts?
